Physician Assistant Myra Kemna is originally from Tucson, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology & Pre-Med Studies. She went on to earn her Physician Assistant Certification from Cook County Hospital Physician Assistant Program in Chicago, Illinois. She did her Psychiatry rotation through Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Over the past 25 years Myra Kemna has practiced in a variety of medical settings, including Family Practice, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Infectious Disease and Psychiatry. She has a special interest in Domestic and International Public Health. In the U.S. she has held appointments with Indian Health Services, Health Care for the Homeless and ACCESS Community Health Centers. Myra has also participated in several overseas medical outreaches, including Mexico, Ecuador, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and the Philippines.
Myra Kemna provides full psychiatric evaluation and treatment for individuals of all ages. Her skills include diagnosis, medication management and limited psychotherapy. Areas of special interest include Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety, OCD, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder. Myra has had the opportunity to provide care across several different cultural settings, both in the US and abroad.
Myra Kemna conducts psychiatric evaluations for diagnosis and medication management. Myra enjoys teaching the neuro-biological basis of psychiatric disorders, including the mechanism of action of the medications that are prescribed. Brief therapy techniques employed by Myra Kemna include cognitive-reframing, support/validation, solution-focused, and psycho-educational approaches.
Myra Kemna is a Board Certified Physician Assistant, maintaining certification through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) since 1994. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) as well as the Association of Physician Assistants in Psychiatry (APAP).
Myra enjoys vegetable gardening, home building projects, camping and spending time with family.
