Treatment Specialties

Alissa specializes in treating individuals experiencing a variety of emotional, social, and behavioral issues as well as helping individuals overcome the effects of trauma. She has experience in treating a wide range of concerns, including life transitions, interpersonal and relational conflicts, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders and attachment disorders.


Training and Experience

Alissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2005 and her Master of Social Work from the University of North Dakota in 2012. Prior to starting her practice, Alissa served as a Peace Corps volunteer, engaged in community and youth development projects in Paraguay for several years. She completed her internship at Indian Health Services on the Standing Rock reservation before working with both youth and adults involved in the criminal justice system. She has experience working with clients of all ages from diverse backgrounds and experiences.


Techniques

Alissa believes in creating a collaborative and client-centered therapeutic environment, utilizing a strength-based, and humanistic approach when working with clients. Alissa uses a variety of counseling approaches to best meet her clients' needs including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Trauma Informed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.
