Treatment Specialties

I believe in treating the individual person and their symptoms. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, loss, somatic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, significant life changes, life transitions, stress management as well as challenges with self esteem. In practice and in life, I observe and reflect upon the interconnection between biology, psychology and socio-environmental factors that impact our well-being and ability to function at our highest potential.

Training and Experience

I began my pursuit of health and healing at age twelve, providing Reiki and massage to friends and family. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2001 from Carroll University. I spent five years working in the field primarily with children and families. In 2007 I completed formal training in therapeutic massage and Chinese acupressure. I then went on to earn a Masters degree in Social Work from UW-Madison in 2016. I completed my internship at the VA providing therapy for Veterans. After graduating, I worked at UW Health for five years, first as a case manager for those with significant medical and mental health needs, then provided therapy for adults at a primary care clinic where I refined my therapeutic style. I have a special interest in working with patients that have physical symptoms that are linked to emotional and mental distress. I am fascinated by the mind-body connection and the nervous system's role in that connection. I continue to seek out therapeutic methods and strategies to unwind, free, and restructure the stuck points that perpetuate life limiting patterns. The path to better oneself is unique and I enjoy combining my knowledge of the body and mind to assist clients on that journey.

Techniques

I use a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Problem Solving Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also open to other therapeutic methods of healing that are currently outside the scope of traditional mental health treatment. I believe that everyone has the ability to impact their own healing. My general focus in therapy is to help clients become aware of their patterns, awaken their ability to connect to their inner knowledge and discover their own strategies that bring them into harmony and balance.
